The village of Cong is located at the heart of the west of Ireland making it the ideal location for touring Connemara, Galway and Mayo as well as enjoying the many attractions around the village.

Directions to Cong

Travel from Galway

Leave Galway on the N84 signposted Headford. At the traffic lights in Headford continue forwards on to the R334 signposted Cong. Turn left in Cross on to the R346. Follow this road and after three miles you will reach Cong. There is parking in the large car park at the entrance to the village.

Travel from Westport

Leave Westport on the R330. At Partry turn right onto the N84. Follow the N84 to Ballinrobe. Follow the one way system around Ballinrobe. Leave Ballinrobe on the R334 signposted “The Neale” and “Cong”. After passing through “The Neale” turn right onto R345. On arrival at Ashford Gates turn right onto the R346. Follow this road and after four hundred yards you will reach Cong. There is parking in the large car park at the entrance to the village.

Travel from Knock Airport

Leave the airport and proceed towards the N17. Turn right onto the N17. Exit the N17 at Claremorris and turn right at the head of sliproad. At the roundabout on the outskirts of Claremorris take the second exit signposted “R331 Ballinrobe”. Follow the road into Claremorris. On reaching a T junction turn left onto the Main Street in Claremorris (R331). Follow the road through the traffic lights and exit Claremorris on the R331 towards Ballinrobe. Follow the one way system around Ballinrobe. Leave Ballinrobe on the R334 signposted “The Neale” and “Cong”. After passing through “The Neale” turn right onto R345. On arrival at Ashford Gates turn right onto the R346. Follow this road and after four hundred yards you will reach Cong. There is parking in the large car park at the entrance to the village.

Public Transport

Cong is well served by public transport services. Trains from Dublin connect to Galway and Claremorris. Information about train services is available at Irish Rail.

There are a number of bus services connecting to and from Cong from Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Carraroe, Castlebar, Cornamona, Maam Cross and Headford. There are connecting buses from Castlebar to Westport and Ballina. There are connecting buses from Headford to Galway.
